If you’re reading this post, you know the Mayan’s had it wrong–the world didn’t end and we’re still here finding our way to lasting success, significance, and happiness.
Maybe your life has all the joy, happiness, prosperity, and contribution you’ve ever wanted–or maybe not. Either way, TODAY— this day and everyday, is a new beginning.
Simply because the world didn’t “end” doesn’t mean we can’t change ourselves and our world. I’d even argue we have an obligation to do so. It’s a new dawn, a new day, and a new age.
(Maybe I’ll create my own calendar to countdown the end of the world as I know it)
Life may or may not begin at conception (depending on your faith and beliefs) but one thing is certain–change begins with inception.
We’re still here on December 22nd (or whenever you’re reading this); what a perfect time to begin again with a new concept of our world and our lives.
Consider it a “re-do”, a mulligan if you will–we can leave the “old world of our lives” and rebirth into a brand-new you and what you do, have, give, and receive.
Me? I want to be a better man, husband, and father. I want to make a bigger difference in the lives of people who are important to me. I want to make a more significant contribution in the world. And I’m committed to being more focused, consistent, and disciplined about where, how, and with whom I spend my time.
It’s like I’m being given a fresh chance to do what I do well even better. To remedy the things I don’t do as well as I’d like or perhaps as well as I can. It’s an opportunity to take or make a conscious pause in my patterns of thinking, believes, and actions.
The infallible wisdom of hindsight has given me the opportunity to reflect upon “the old world” and given me the experiences of my life upon which to learn and grow. Not often are we given a visible reset button but I’m pressing mine and restarting the game of life, living, and participating in the world.
I’m pushing play, going past “go” and skipping the jails of the past, propelling myself to a new present and future.
